Итоги отборочного этапа ICA Moot MGIMO 2026

On 23 March 2026, the qualifying round of ICA Moot MGIMO 2026 came to an end.

During the first stage, participants analyzed a case concerning a dispute arising out of a contract for the supply of paint intended for parallel import. The issues addressed included the parties’ actions after counterfeit goods had been discovered (return of the goods, refusal to accept replacement, and resale at a reduced price), the arbitration clause, and the allocation of the burden of proof.

Preparing the claimant’s and respondent’s memoranda required a profound knowledge of international commercial arbitration and strong skills in applying legal concepts to real-life situations.

Based on the experts’ evaluation, the following teams will advance to the oral rounds of the Russian-language section:

Team No. 9 — Kazan Federal University;

Team No. 28 — Ural Branch of the Private Law Research Centre under the President of the Russian Federation named after S.S. Alexeev;

Team No. 32 — Voronezh State University;

Team No. 30 — Kutafin Moscow State Law University and Novosibirsk State University;

Team No. 34 — MGIMO University;

Team No. 8 — HSE University;

Team No. 26 — Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba;

Team No. 18 — MGIMO University.

Following the results of the qualifying round, the following teams are invited to participate in the oral rounds of the English-language section:

Team No. 2 — HSE University;

Team No. 4 — MGIMO University;

Team No. 5 — Kutafin Moscow State Law University  and MGIMO University;

Team No. 6 — MGIMO University.

Congratulations to the finalists on this well-deserved success!

The in-person stage of the event will take place at MGIMO University and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs on 14–15 April.
