About
ICA Moot 2026 is a student competition in international commercial arbitration organised by the International Law Faculty of MGIMO University (Moscow State Institute of International Relations), the MGIMO Law Club, and the Arbitration Centre at the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP).
The competition structure includes a qualifying round featuring the preparation of written memoranda for both claimant and respondent, as well as oral hearings at MGIMO and the Arbitration Centre at the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), which will determine the winners. Leading arbitration specialists will serve as arbitrators: practicing arbitrators from the Panel for International Disputes of the Arbitration Centre at the RSPP, representatives from law firms, and members of the academic community.
The competition is conducted in both Russian and English.
Arbitration rules and the moot case
ICA Moot is a model arbitration procedure governed by the Arbitration Rules of the Arbitration Centre at the RSPP — one of Russia’s leading arbitral institutions.
During the competition, participants are required to develop both claimant and respondent positions on the moot case that covers issues of arbitral procedure and private international law. This year’s moot case combines classical elements with contemporary trends: teams will interpret an arbitration agreement and address evidentiary issues, as well as examine a dispute arising from a supply contract in the context of supply chain diversification.
